TX-R — Reinforcement Geocomposite
In civil engineering, designers must deal with soils, which have a low loadbearing capacity. Calculating the fill required becomes highly important when you know that weight applied produces constraints inversely proportional to the thickness of the fill on the existing soil. Thus, soft soil requires larger quantities of granular materials, significantly increasing costs. The use of geosynthetics on soil with a low loadbearing capacity makes it possible to optimize the thickness of the fill required, based on applied weight. Description and function The reinforcing geotextile was designed to improve the soil’s loadbearing capacity, thus reducing the thicknesss of fill required for a given weight. The TX-R consists of a nonwoven geotextile needlepunched over a woven geotextile. This composite product allows for drainage and separation. In fact, reinforcement is provided by the woven layer while the nonwoven ensures high transmissivity, which helps channel water to the edge of the road. Installation TX-R is rolled out on the ground like conventional geotextiles. It can be overlapped or stitched together in the plant. Rolls measure 3.5 meters wide by 100 meters long. TX-MP — Protective Geocomposite
For Manholes And Catch Basins
Costs generated by the buckling of manholes and catch basins resulting from freeze-thaw cycles are high. In fact, repairing a manhole can represent as much as 30% of the initial cost. During freeze periods, the buckling of the soil can result in the vertical displacement of various sections of the manhole. During the thaw period, soil particles that have worked their way between the sections prevent them from returning to their original position. This phenomenon pushes the manhole above the level of pavement. Description and function The TX-MP geocomposite consists of a nonwoven geotextile laminated to a PVC geomembrane. The geotextile makes it possible to evacuate infiltrated water while the PVC, with its low friction coefficient, creates a break between the soil and the manhole. Installation The geocomposite is delivered to the work site in rolls measuring 1.83 meters wide by 30 meters long. It is kept in place around the catch basin by a rope or tie and an overlap of some 30 cm, to ensure continuity. TX GEOTEXTILES — Nonwoven Geotextiles Applied to Civil Engineering Projects
While geotextiles first appeared in the 1960s, Soleno Textiles has succeeded
in adapting its nonwoven TX geotextiles to the technical and economic demands
of today’s projects. Given their low initial cost and highly predictable
long-term performance, Soleno’s geotextiles have naturally emerged
as the best alternative to traditional processes.
Geotextiles are widely used by most of the engineering and environmental
communities. They are found in the construction of roads, streets, forest
trails, canals, and railroads, as well as in dams to delay the erosion of
shorelines, and to keep waste in landfill cells.
Nonwoven TX geotextiles, also known as geotextile felt, are produced from
the most commonly used polymers such as polyester, polypropylene and high-density
polyethylene.
Sturdy, effective, proven and recognized, TX geotextiles are manufactured
according to North American standards, notably ASTM and Canadian standards,
for purposes of separation, stabilization, filtration, reinforcement, and
protection.
